Regular classes run 24 hours over 8 weeks and follow the CECRL framework with the Alter Ego textbook series (shipped free). Combine with conversation, thematic, or private classes to strengthen specific skills.

Regular Classes
Our core program: 24 hours of instruction over 8 weeks, following the CECRL framework. Personalized teaching built on dialogue with the teacher, with culture woven into language learning. Combine with thematic or private classes to strengthen specific skills.
If only 2 students are enrolled, the class becomes semi-private: 2 hours per week for a total of 16 hours.
In person / Online (Zoom)
Conversation & Thematic Classes
Put your French to work — conversation classes and themed workshops (cinema, literature, current events, regional culture) that run about 1 hour per week for 8 weeks.
At the Alliance, at home, or online
Private Classes
Customized one-on-one and semi-private instruction with fully qualified teachers. Start at any time, with flexible scheduling day or evening.

Corporate Classes
Give your team the gift of French. Training plans built around your objectives, with courses designed for professional groups.

Curriculum
What you'll learn at each level
Ten core levels take you from your first words to confident B2 French. Each is 24 hours over 8 weeks — $475 for non-members, with a 10% member discount.
Beginner 1 · A1Alter Ego 1, dossiers 0–2 · 24h over 8 weeks
You’ll be able to: Greet people, count to 100, introduce yourself, express likes and dislikes, reserve a hotel room, give and understand directions, write a simple postcard.
Grammar: Articles, possessive adjectives, prepositions with countries, noun and adjective agreement, present-tense conjugation, simple questions.
Beginner 2 · A1Alter Ego 1, dossiers 3–4 · 24h over 8 weeks
You’ll be able to: Describe yourself and others in detail, talk about family and daily routines, handle phone calls, describe someone's life in the past tense.
Grammar: Reflexive verbs, pronouns, dates and times, the passé composé.
Beginner 3 · A1–A2Alter Ego 1, dossiers 5–6 · 24h over 8 weeks
You’ll be able to: Relate past events, give advice, express feelings, talk about weather, hobbies, and vacations.
Grammar: Interrogative pronouns, recent past and near future, time prepositions, the pronoun y, the futur simple.
Beginner 4 · A2Alter Ego 1, dossiers 7–8 · 24h over 8 weeks
You’ll be able to: Order at a restaurant, shop for clothes and groceries, describe objects, make invitations, talk about childhood memories.
Grammar: Direct and indirect object pronouns, relative pronouns qui and que, the pronoun en, quantities, the imparfait.
Beginner 5 · A2Alter Ego 1, dossier 9 · 24h over 8 weeks
You’ll be able to: Describe a house or apartment in detail, buy or rent a home, discuss etiquette and politeness.
Grammar: Comparisons, il y a and depuis, recommending and discouraging.
Intermediate 1 · B1Alter Ego 2, dossiers 1–2 · 24h over 8 weeks
You’ll be able to: Talk about relationships and personalities, report events, present your professional background, apply for a job.
Grammar: Relative pronouns, direct speech, comparisons, imparfait vs. passé composé, plus-que-parfait, adverbs.
Intermediate 2 · B1Alter Ego 2, dossiers 2–4 · 24h over 8 weeks
You’ll be able to: Discuss stereotypes and cultural differences, present a country — its way of life, social and political system.
Grammar: The subjunctive for advice and obligation, relative pronouns où and dont, demonstratives, superlatives, emphatic structures.
Intermediate 3 · B1Alter Ego 2, dossiers 4–5 · 24h over 8 weeks
You’ll be able to: Understand and discuss newspaper articles, review films and TV shows, report events, talk about tourism.
Grammar: Past participle agreement, the passive voice, pronouns after à and de, wishes with indicative and subjunctive, the gérondif.
Intermediate 4 · B1–B2Alter Ego 2, dossiers 6–7 · 24h over 8 weeks
You’ll be able to: Talk about the future, present projects and books in detail, express regret, evoke a change of life.
Grammar: The conditional for suggestions and hypotheses, cause and consequence markers, temporal markers.
Intermediate 5 · B2Alter Ego 2, dossiers 7–8 · 24h over 8 weeks
You’ll be able to: Support a cause, express concerns, discuss societal issues, formulate critiques and complaints.
Grammar: Regrets with the infinitif passé, necessity with the subjunctive, nuance between indicative and subjunctive, the past conditional.
