Worn on the finger\, the neck\, a brooch\, or mounted on precious objects\, Cameos and intaglios\, avidly collected\, have withstood the test of time. \nFrom Ptolemies’ Egypt to the Roman engravers of the nineteenth century\, this art form is immensely diverse. It spans a wide range of interpretations\, from luxury goods to political propaganda\, from ancient to medieval rings\, from royal and imperial portraits to seals\, amulets\, and icons.  The art of the glyptic pays tribute to antiquity and is appreciated by scholars and amateurs alike.
