Hippolyte Bayard: A Persistent Pioneer
Join Marie Velde, a certified instructor holding a Master’s in Fine Arts, to the Getty Center for a guided visit in French.
For our second installment, our Getty visit will take us to XIXth century Paris where Hippolyte Bayard was a pioneer of photography.
We will talk about Bayard in relation to his contemporaries as well as the birth of photography both as a medium and as an artistic form.

We will meet at 9:45 am right at the parking elevator exit, Tram level.
Your guide, Marie Velde, will have your tickets and you will go through security together before hopping on the tram.
The Getty Center parking opens at 9:30 am. We will make the reservations but the parking fee of $25 will be your responsibility. Weather can be cold and windy on the hill; please pack an extra layer as well as water.
When our class ends at 11:30 am, you will be free to take advantage of the Getty’s other amenities: art galleries filled with well-curated art, luscious gardens and cozy cafeteria among others.
